Finance and Administration Division Awards Summary
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Finance and Administration Division has established three annual awards to recognize exceptional team members within the division.
Awards:
Finance and Administration Spotlight Award (5 years or less of service)
This award is given to an outstanding Finance and Administration team member with a minimum of six months and five years, 11 months or less of consecutive UTC service. During the nomination period, the nominee has achieved several of the following:
- Demonstrated excellence in overall job performance with a performance ranking 15 or above and showed promise of future growth in his/her/their field
- Provided innovative solutions and/or consistent valuable contributions to their department with the Division of Finance and Administration
- Showed a willingness to assist beyond normal expectations
- Took full responsibility for their work, were pro-active and ensured continual development of skills needed perform their job efficiently
- Promoted an atmosphere of positive collaboration and cooperation with campus colleagues
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service (students, faculty, staff, departments, etc.)
- Welcomes and values diversity of opinions in discussions, demonstrates tolerance of others, considers accessibility, diversity and inclusivity in aspects of job assignments, enhances the campus climate, adheres to respectful workplace expectations.
Finance and Administration Excellence Award (6-20 years/service)
This award is given to an outstanding Finance and Administration team member who has greater than 6 years, but no more than 20, years of service with the university. During the nomination period, the nominee has achieved several of the following:
- Demonstrated excellence in overall job performance with a performance ranking 15 or above and has shown consistent development and growth
- Shared valuable knowledge and skills or information that contributed to the overall success of the department
- Increased the success of the department through the process of cooperative problem-solving and/or finding innovative solutions
- Shown excitement and enthusiasm about their work and consistently looked for better ways to improve themselves
- Promoted a sense of community (within work group, department/unit, or across campus) by bringing groups/individuals together for a common purpose
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service (students, faculty, staff, departments, etc.)
- Welcomes and values diversity of opinions in discussions, demonstrates tolerance of others, considers accessibility, diversity and inclusivity in aspects of job assignments, enhances the campus climate, adheres to respectful workplace expectations.
Dr. Richard Brown Achievement Award (20 years/service)
This award is given to an outstanding Finance and Administration team member who has greater than 20, years of service with the university. During the nomination period, the nominee has achieved several of the following:
- Demonstrated excellence in overall job performance with a performance ranking 15 or above and has shown to be a consistent contributor to creating positive work culture
- Has taken initiative and has inspired others to work collaboratively and creatively to advance the mission of the university
- Went the extra mile to influence team performance and consistently provided leadership for their department
- Showed loyalty and a strong commitment to the mission, vision and values of the university
- Seeks to improve university operations, handles difficult situations and assignments well, personifies dependability
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service (students, faculty, staff, departments, etc.)
- Welcomes and values diversity of opinions in discussions, demonstrates tolerance of others, considers accessibility, diversity and inclusivity in aspects of job assignments, enhances the campus climate, adheres to respectful workplace expectations.
General Criteria
- Award recipients are regular UTC employees (outside their probationary period) within the Division of Finance and Administration.
- Recipients embody the mission of the university, produce quality work, and consistently display characteristics valued and appreciated by coworkers. They are a reliable compass continually pointing the university in the direction of its goals and aspirations.
- The recipient must not have won another campus or UT System award within the prior 2 years, excluding the Chancellor’s Blue Ribbon Award.
Selection and Award Process
- Nominations are solicited from anyone in the division and are then routed to a nominee’s supervisor for the final nomination.
- Performance ranking and dates of service are checked by Human Resources.
- The nominee’s supervisor will be asked whether there are any performance concerns that the Vice Chancellor should be aware of and noted on application.
- Vice Chancellor (or appointed committee) reviews nominations and assembles a committee.
- Committee selects nominated members for each award category:
- The annual deadline for nominations will be October 15.
- Award winners will be chosen in early November and announced at the next scheduled Division Leadership Workshop or other appropriate time.
