The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Department of Public Safety (DPS) is strongly committed to sharing information that allows members of the University community to make informed decisions about their individual safety, in addition to ensuring compliance with university policy and local, state, and federal laws that help keep our community safe.
Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act)
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), as provided by 20 U.S.C. § 1092, directs public and private institutions of higher education who participate in federal financial aid programs to disclose campus safety information, in addition to imposing certain requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations. The goal of this report is to provide transparency around crime policy and statistics, aiding members of the community in making informed decisions about their safety on campus.
College & University Security Information Act (CUSIA)
The Tennessee College and University Security Information Act (CUSIA), as provided by Tennessee Code Annotated § 49-7- 2203, directs public and private institutions of higher education to report information related to campus safety. The goal of this report is to assist the community in understanding the process of campus security and the related policies and procedures at UTC.
Programs for Minors
Minors visit campus for a variety of reasons and are involved in a variety of programs and activities sponsored by UTC or by third parties using University facilities or resources. As provided by UT System Policy SA0575 (Programs for Minors), UTC and the University of Tennessee (UT) System are committed to promoting a safe environment for minors by fostering a University culture that is committed to preventing, recognizing, reporting, and addressing child abuse and child sexual abuse.
