Crime Statistics
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) believes strongly that sharing crime information and prevention efforts allows members of the community to make informed decisions about their individual safety. The UTC Police Department provides this information in various forms, in accordance with state and federal law.
Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act)
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), as provided by 20 U.S.C. § 1092, directs public and private institutions of higher education who participate in federal financial aid programs to disclose campus safety information, in addition to imposing certain requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations. Each higher education institution is required to publish a report by October 1 of each year. The goal of this report is to provide transparency around crime policy and statistics, aiding members of the community in making informed decisions about their safety on campus.
Annual Security & Fire Safety (ASFSR) Report
College & University Security Information Act (CUSIA)
The Tennessee College and University Security Information Act (CUSIA), as provided by Tennessee Code Annotated § 49-7- 2203, directs public and private institutions of higher education to report information related to campus safety. Each higher education institution is required to publish a report that is updated annually and includes the crime statistics reported for the most recent three-year period. The goal of this report is to assist the community in understanding the process of campus security and the related policies and procedures at UTC.
