Overview of Recruitment Process
Regular Faculty
Faculty recruitment and hiring is a collaborative and inclusive process that involves the Office of Human Resources (HR) and the Faculty Records Office in Academic Affairs.
- Step 1: Request Recruitment (Department Head / Search Committee Chair / Search Assistant)
- Submits Academic Affairs Recruitment Approval Workflow for Provost approval
- Submits draft job posting to HR for posting in Interfolio
- Identifies search committee
- Step 2: Post and Recruit (HR)
- Finalizes job posting and posts in Interfolio
- Provides assistance with any external recruitment efforts
- Adds search committee access to job posting and candidate pool in Interfolio
- Step 3: Application Review / Interviews (Search Committee)
- Reviews candidate pool and identifies primary candidate pool
- Conducts initial round of interviews
- Notifies HR of candidates identified for final round of interviews
- Following final round of interviews, Search Committee Chair provides search committee feedback for Department Head consideration
- Step 4: Search Finalization (Department Head)
- Department Head or designee completes reference checks
- Department Head determines successful candidate and notifies HR to initiate background check
- HR initiates background check and provides contingency language to Department Head for extending verbal offer
- Department Head submits Faculty Appointment Letter Request to Academic Affairs
- Step 5: Extend Offer (Department Head)
- Extends verbal offer with background check contingency language; and notifies HR of candidate acceptance and start date
- Search Committee Chair or Search Assistant rejects unsuccessful candidates in Interfolio
- Step 6: Appointment Letter / Hire (HR / Faculty Records)
- HR initiates faculty hire in DASH
- HR receives faculty appointment letter with Provost signature from Faculty Records
- HR sends new faculty welcome e-mail with appointment letter and new faculty orientation information
- HR coordinates completion of new hire paperwork and benefits orientation
- HR closes search in Interfolio
