Overview of Recruitment Process
Regular Non-Exempt Staff
- Step 1: Request Recruitment (Hiring Department)
- Submits the Classification Request Form to confirm classification and recommended hiring range
- Upon receiving HR confirmation of classification details, submits "Request a New Position" or "Request a Position Change" transaction to begin recruitment in DASH
- Step 2: Post and Recruit (HR Specialist)
- Sends draft job posting to hiring department for review and approval
- Upon finalization, posts position in DASH
- After 10-day minimum posting period, releases qualified candidates for search committee consideration
- Step 3: Application Review / Interviews (Search Committee)
- Reviews qualified candidate to identify primary interview pool
- Conducts initial and final rounds of interviews
- Following final round of interviews, Search Committee Chair provides candidate evaluations with strengths/weaknesses and recommendations to Hiring Manager
- Step 4: Search Finalization (Hiring Manager)
- Hiring Manager (or designee) completes reference checks
- Hiring Manager determines successful candidate and notifies HR to initiate background check process
- Extends verbal offer with background check contingency language; and notifies HR of candidate acceptance and start date
- Hiring Manager, Search Committee Chair, or Search Assistant rejects unsuccessful candidates in DASH
- Step 5: Appointment Letter / Hire (HR Specialist)
- Sends new employee welcome e-mail with appointment letter and first day information regarding New Employee Orientation
- Step 6: New Employee Onboarding (Supervisor and New Employee)
