Beta Gamma Sigma
The Honor Society for AACSB Accredited Business Programs
History of Beta Gamma Sigma
Beta Gamma Sigma was founded as a national organization in 1913. The first national honor society in business was a merger of three separate societies established to honor academic achievement in business at the University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois and the University of California.
Membership
Beta Gamma Sigma only allows the top ten percent of the senior class, and the top 20 percent of the graduated MBA or MAcc students to be considered for induction. Students elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma are recognized with the highest national honor that a student in the business of management at an accredited institution can obtain. They are truly "the best in business." Qualified students are invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma every spring.

The Beta Gamma Sigma Key
The Beta Gamma Sigma Key is a symbol of academic excellence on our campus. It is cast from a high-quality bronze alloy, the key weighs almost 300 pounds and stands over 52” tall, not counting the base. The key is located outside Fletcher Hall facing McCallie Avenue.
Mission of the Society
The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and personal and professional excellence in the practice of business. While almost 300,000 students receive baccalaureate or master's degrees in business each year, only about 18,000 students are accepted into membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.
