The Demography of Inequality: Mapping determinants of health at the neighborhood level

Living in a disadvantaged neighborhood is linked to higher rates of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and earlier death. Research shows health policies that don’t address neighborhood disadvantages may not be effective. 

Join Associate Scientist Will Buckingham as he explores opportunities for tools and resources that help inform health delivery and policy, including the Neighborhood Atlas website and the Area Deprivation Index (ADI).

Will Buckingham is an associate scientist in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with training in geographic information science and health through the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. His research bridges social epidemiology and geographic information systems, focusing on understanding health phenomena in specific locations.
