Rollins Scholars Class of 2023
The Rollins Scholars program in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at UTC offers students the opportunity to become a high-impact leader and business student while making lasting connections with other business majors, UTC faculty, and Chattanooga-area business leaders. The program provides up to 20 outstanding incoming freshmen students with $4,000 annual scholarships for up to four consecutive years of study.

Rachel Albright, Marketing/Communications
Rachel is from Atlanta, Georgia. As a marketing major, she hopes to pursue a career in entertainment management/marketing or public relations. After college, Rachel would like to move to California to begin her career or attend graduate school. She is interested in studying the behavior of consumers, the interactions between companies, their consumers, and the process of product development and social media. "I am drawn to the creative approach of marketing and consumer interaction. I see myself working for a forward thinking company such as Amazon, Sales Force, or Unum. Ultimately, I would like to work my way toward a career in entertainment management, preferably in the music industry," says Rachel.
Makenzie Atkins, Marketing
Makenzie is from Clarksville, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing. Her career goals are to be a strong female in leadership where she can works towards the betterment of her community. She plans to lead the way in improving life for men and women in the business community and has an interest in learning and understanding how to run her own business one day. Makenzie believes the Rollins Scholars program will allow her to help others, be involved, and be prepared for the future.
Kayla Ballard, Marketing
Kayla is from the Nashville, Tennessee area and plans to pursue a degree in Marketing. Her interests and hobbies range from being a vocalist in a praise band, playing softball, volleyball, and swimming. She was a lifeguard at a local civic center for two years and participated in many leadership camps and volunteer projects. Upon graduation, Kayla plans to pursue her MBA.
Emily Berry, Marketing
Emily is from Franklin, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing. Throughout her time in high school, she has worked full-time and has been involved in many activities such as Smiles for Kids, Best Buddies, Model UN, Fellow Christian Athletes, Page Girls Cotillion, soccer, Broadcasting, Student Council, YoungLife, and many other volunteer organizations such as The Room at The End and Grace Works. Emily believes that by working in a vast number of groups with very different people, she has learned to voice her thoughts in a way that can be well understood by many. After graduation, she hopes to own her own company such as a boutique or advertising company.
Faye Collins, Finance
Faye is from Franklin, Tennessee and plans to major in Finance. When she's not in art class or deciphering calculus homework, she's working as an administrative assistant for a charity advocate company or as a receptionist at a yoga studio. This past summer she spent a month interning at a nonprofit in Uganda and she plans to return their long term after graduation. Faye plans to use her degree in Finance to work with more nonprofits and hopefully improve the lives of those in need.
Katie Contich, Management/Interior Design
Katie is from Brentwood, Tennessee and plans to major in Business Management with a minor in Interior Design. Katie's career goals include music management and interior design. She hopes to learn valuable leadership skills, as well as bettering her presentation and communication skills during her time as a Rollins Scholar. She hopes to gain experience in new relationships, experiences in the work place or classroom, and experiences in real situations.
Dominic Crawford, Finance
Dominic is from Chattanooga, Tennessee and plans to major in Finance with the hope of increasing the average person's financial literacy. Dominic hopes to become a stock broker or financial adviser after graduation. He enjoys working and helping others, and he hopes to educate others through free personal financial sessions. As for his long term goals, he envisions himself as a professor in higher education.
Harrison Davis, Management
Harrison is from Chattanooga, Tennessee and plans to major in Business Management. During his time in high school he has completed four years of Honors, AP, and intellectually gifted certified courses. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, Harrison looks forward to furthering his education with a Masters of Business Administration and entering the the world of supply chain and logistics management.
Jaimy Holle, Marketing
Jaimy is from Hendersonville, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing. Her career goal is to obtain a job one day as a marketing manager. In high school, Jaimy was involved in FBLA and DECA, was an officer in FBLA and received a Business Communications award. Upon graduation she hopes to secure a job in Southern California, her birthplace, to begin her marketing career.
Samuel Huang, Finance
Samuel is from Clarksville, Tennessee and plans to major in Finance. He hopes to learn more about how to help his community and combat the issues of poverty on a small and large scale. Samuel has been involved in multiple extracurricular activities including the YMCA swim team and guitar lessons. He has volunteered for many organizations including House of Hope Food Pantry, Room at the Inn Homeless Shelter, Tent City clothing drives, and Ultimate Frisbee food drives.
Alexandra (Ally) Losey, Marketing
Ally is from Spring Hill, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing. She is currently the Founder and CEO of Singulier Clothing Company, a local upcycled clothing brand which she plans to launch nationally on July 5, 2019. Ally plans to open her next company during her first year of college, with plans for more in the remaining years as a student. She has been involved in FBLA, DECA, and participated in many Entrepreneurship Fairs.
Jolie Mayes, Marketing/Entrepreneurship
Jolie is from Nolensville, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Her personal career goal is to be the Sports Marketing Director for a NFL, NHL, or NBA sports team. She developed her love for marketing through DECA and has done extensive research on Sports Marketing. Within the Rollins Scholars program, her goals are to emerge herself in the programming, make connections with peers, and intern with companies that can further her passion of marketing.
Terisa Phonxaya, Management
Terisa is from La Vergne, Tennessee and plans to major in Business Management. Her ultimate goal after graduation is to open her own bakery and culinary school. She is the daughter of a small business owner and has always been influenced by entrepreneurship. She aspires to attend culinary school after receiving a business degree to become a renowned pastry chef, a profession that encompasses most of her interests.
Jacob Price, Management
Jacob is from Hixson, Tennessee and plans to major in Business Management. Upon completing his undergraduate education, he plans to go to seminary school to receive training to be a pastor with the potential of starting a ministry. Jacob's goal is to go into pastoral ministry with the ability to work bi-vocationally. He believes business plays a large role in accomplishing his career goals.
Kendra Satterwhite, Marketing
Kenra is from Franklin, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing. Her career goals include becoming a Marketing Director and a graphic designer. In high school, she designed posters for many events and hopes to be in full creative control of all branding/promotional materials she may design in the future. Kendra has a talent for leadership and hopes to apply her talents to the Rollins Scholars program.
Ethan Smith, Entrepreneurship
Ethan is from Nashville, Tennessee and plans to major in Entrepreneurship. His goal is to learn many aspects of the world of business and prepare for the real world as much as possible. Ethan currently coaches a 7-year-old boys' soccer team as a long-term school project that is beneficial to his community. He hopes to continue volunteering in a similar capacity when he arrives in Chattanooga.
Natalie Soucy, Marketing
Natalie is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee and plans to major in Marketing. She was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and was adopted at the age of 9. Her limited access to education in Ethiopia has been the center of her motivation. After seeing the power of education and the many opportunities it provides, she believes it's important to pay it forward. Natalie's goal is to start an organization that gives the children of Ethiopia easy access to education.
Timothy Stone, Entrepreneurship
Timothy is from Morganton, Georgia and plans to major in Entrepreneurship. He came to the realization in the past three years that he is called to be an entrepreneur. Currently, Timothy runs his own real estate photography business where he works with clients to put together 3D virtual tours for real estate listings in the Blue Ridge, GA area. His goal is to one day become an innovative entrepreneur and make his mark in the business world.
John Wayne, Business Analytics
John is from Paris, Tennessee and plans to major in Business Analytics. As a Boy Scout, John has worked for the OA (Scouting's National Honor Society) and held positions such as Lodge Chief for the West Tennessee area and Section Vice Chief for the states of Tennessee, Kentucky and Louisiana. He hopes to gain knowledge and experience to one day assist failing small businesses to get back on track and reopen the era of small business service to a region being dominated by large corporations and big business chains.
Joshua Wright, Management
Joshua is from Memphis, Tennessee and plans to major in Business Management with an emphasis on healthcare. Joshua's goal is to further his education in business, seek new learning opportunities like getting an internship, and graduate with a management degree. He hopes to one day own his own business, or to learn from a large company such as Apple or Google.
