Wright-Bentley Scholars 2006-2007

The Wright-Bentley Scholarship is awarded to students that have demonstrated strong academic skills and service to the community and university. Selected students have proven themselves to be highly motivated, intellectually strong and civic-minded.

Listed below are the 2006-2007 Wright-Bentley Scholars.


William Clegg

B.S. Business Administration: Accounting

William has been active on the UTC campus, holding such offices as treasurer for Beta Alpha Psi, the honor society for accounting and finance students, and treasurer of the Interfraternity Council. He was also president of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. 

Upon graduation William received employment offers from many accounting firms in town. He is a staff accountant at Henderson Hutcherson and McCullough.


Daniel Dance

B.S. Business Administration: Accounting
B.S. Business Administration: Finance

Daniel was an active member of Beta Alpha Psi, the honor society for accounting and finance students. He worked at United Church of God Youth Camps during the summer. Daniel enjoys playing guitar, kayaking, hiking, and playing basketball. He was born in Pasadena, CA into a family that now has 5 males, allowing them to field a family basketball team. 

After graduation Daniel passed the CPA exam and began working for KPMG in Nashville, TN.


Amber Gruber 

B.S. Business Administration: Management 

Amber was a Resident Assistant for UTC Place apartments. During the summer she interned at a marketing firm, and now works at Sticky Fingers restaurant to help pay for her schooling. Amber is a volunteer at St. Catherine’s Women’s Shelter. She enjoys camping, backpacking, racquetball, and playing the piano.

After graduation, Amber aspires to obtain a management position in an already established business. She enjoys people and, as a manager, hopes to motivate a team of employees to be successful.


Amber Henderson 

B.S. Business Administration: Accounting

Amber was active at the Children’s Church at Temple Baptist Church. She appreciated the many opportunities to interact with UTC accounting professors. Amber enjoys water skiing, snow skiing and scrap booking. 

After graduation she plans to work in public accounting and would ultimately like to teach accounting at the college level.


Zach Latham

B.S. Business Administration: Finance 
B.S. Business Administration: Entrepreneurship

Zachary was active in Students in Free Enterprise and the Residence Hall Association. He was a Resident Assistant at UTC Place. He enjoys water sports including swimming, boating, and wakeboarding. Zachary also has an interest in autos and rebuilt two Volkswagens. 

After graduation he plans to pursue a career in real estate and would ultimately like to start his own real estate development company.


James Wheeler

B.S. Business Administration: Management

James was a member of the UTC Catholic Student Center, Vice President of Students in Free Enterprise and Assistant Resident Director for UTC Housing. He was also a member of Sigma Iota Epsilon, the honor society for management students. He enjoys watching UTC basketball games and playing volleyball. James has in interest to work in the health care industry and is preparing to do so by studying both business and science. 

After graduation he plans to pursue a graduate degree in business or pharmacy.
