A first-year program, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Business 2018 Business Empowerment Academy (BEA) is a 5-day residential summer program that is free of charge to all participants.

The program is open to under-represented students (i.e., Native American, African American, Asian American, Hispanic), first generation college students or students on free or reduced lunch who are academically talented rising high school seniors (a senior in the fall of 2018) with a minimum GPA of 2.85. The program will focus on building a portfolio of skills in networking and overall professionalism, while reviewing the various majors offered in the College of Business.

The Business Empowerment Academy offers the opportunity to interact one-on-one with university professors and successful business professionals through a variety of hands-on workshops, field trips and seminars. In addition, students will get a preview of college life and the Chattanooga experience through recreational events that include athletic activities, picnics, visits to area attractions and more.

The program includes visits to top employers of the UTC College of Business graduates. Students will experience personal interaction with top-level executives as well as behind-the-scenes tours.

Program participants will explore each of the business disciplines - accounting, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, marketing, and management - in interactive formats designed to provide insight into those disciplines and potential business career paths.
