25-26 Housing Assignment Process

1-Apply

The housing application for Academic Year 25-26 will open November 15th. To apply, log in to Manage My Housing and complete the application. The application may close by May 1st dependent on availability. Housing will continue to assign student throughout the spring semester and into the summer as rooms are available. 

2-Find Roommates

At this time, it is unlikely housing will be able to honor roommate groups.

Roommate Groups & Roommate Matching:

• Once you have submitted your Housing Application you can setup a roommate group or search for potential roommates.
• In Manage My Housing, click “Apply for Housing”, on the Application Confirmation page at the bottom you will click on the Roommate Group link.
• This will take you to the Roommate Group page where you can add, update and change your roommate group.
  • Search for Roommates by UTC ID: This search allows you to find a specific student by searching by their UTC ID and invite them to be in a roommate group with you. You can also send them a message and view their profile. You will only be able to see other students that have completed a housing application for the term.
  • Search for Roommates based on Question Answered: This allows you to see the top 30 students that you matched with based on your answers to the Roommate Matching questions on the application. You can invite them to your roommate group, send them a message and view their profile.
  • You will only be able to set up roommate groups with other students who have completed their housing application.
• Students can View Profiles and Send Messages to other students through Manage My Housing.
• Current students may set up a roommate group that includes an incoming transfer student. However, only the current student can be the leader and select rooms for the group.
• Once a student has been invited to a group they have to log back into Manage My Housing to confirm they want to be a part of the group.
• A group member can also leave the group at any time from the Roommate Group page.
• The Group Leader has the option to change the Group Leader to any other member of the group and can delete the group.
• Any changes to the group will send a message to all group members.

3-Housing Waitlist

Current students who completed an application but are not yet assigned housing are automatically placed on the waiting list. Student on the waitlist will be assigned as individuals.

• We will assign students off of the waiting list based on waitlist number.
• Student will be emailed before each assignment round to their MOCs email with updates on their place on the waitlist and where the next round of assignments will begin.
• If you no longer wish to be on the waiting list, please send us an email to cancel your application, [email protected]
• Check your Mocs email for updates on your assignment.

The next rounds of assignments will be February 26, March 12, and March 26. These assignments will be based on available rooms and application completion date. Roommate preferences and building preferences will be considered but not be guaranteed.

Important Assignment Information

As we prepare to welcome another first-year class, on-campus housing for the 2025-2026 academic year will be limited and in high demand for current students. The application may remain open until May 1 or until capacity has been met. We will continue to assign current/returning students as space becomes available. Please note, that this may include overflow housing in a nearby apartment complex or hotel. We do not guarantee housing assignment.

Athletes & Residential Learning Communities

Students in an RLC or on an athletic team will be assigned by the Housing Office once the coach/coordinator adds their name to the housing roster for that team/RLC.

Assignment Details

Room Changes/Free Move Period

Due to high occupancy we are unable to offer a free move period for the fall 2025 semester. Please check with your Resident Director for more details.

Room Consolidation

After the free move period, the Housing department will determine if any consolidation is necessary. Apartments/rooms with vacancies may be consolidated.

Winter Break Closing

Meal Plan Requirements

• Freshmen and sophomores living on campus are required to purchase a meal plan
• Juniors and seniors may choose not to have a meal plan
• Freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior status is based on your current credit hours earned.
  • If your credit hours change after a semester ends resulting in your classification changing, you may log in to Manage My Housing  to update your meal plan preference.
  • The university classifies undergraduate students as freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors according to the number of credit hours the student has completed
    • Freshman: 0-29 semester hours
    • Sophomore: 30-59 semester hours
    • Junior: 60-89 semester hours
    • Senior: 90 or more semester hours

Cancelling Your Housing

Students inquiring or needing to cancel their housing must complete the Housing Cancellation Request form through Manage My Housing.
