What is the DNP?
The DNP is the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and is a practice-focused doctoral degree. The DNP is a program of doctoral study for the nurse desiring specialty education in all levels of nursing practice. Both DNP concentrations provide a rigorous education to prepare nurses who translate science to improve population health through expert leadership. UTC offers two concentrations.
- Doctor of Nursing Practice: Nursing (for those who are already Masters-prepared advanced practice nurses such as NP, CRNA, CNM, CNS)
- Doctor of Nursing Practice: Nursing Administration Systems (BSN to DNP, non-advanced practice Masters degree, or Advance Practice nurses with an interest in nursing administration). MBA option available with additional coursework.
What is the difference between the DNP: Nursing and the DNP: Nursing Administration Systems programs?
The DNP: Nursing allows MSN graduates with advanced practice nurses (nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist, midwife) from an accredited nursing program to pursue a DNP degree.
The DNP: Nursing Administration Systems allows BSN to DNP, non-advanced practice Masters degree nurses from an accredited nursing program to pursue the DNP degree specializing in nursing administration. MBA option available with additional coursework.
When is the application deadline for the program and when is a new cohort admitted?

How long is the program and is there a set curriculum and project required?
The full-time program is six semesters long for DNP: Nursing and seven semesters for DNP: Nursing Administration Systems. The curriculum schema is located on the website under Curriculum. There is a translational project required for the program; more information about this is available on the website under Translational Project.
What technology requirements are needed?
A high-speed internet connection is essential. Students accepted into the program are required to have a computer, printer, web camera, internet access, Microsoft Office and other basic needs for downloading videos and other possible course requirements.
What is the cost?
