Accelerated BSN
The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) degree program is for those who have completed a bachelor's degree in a discipline other than nursing. The program builds on what students learned in their previous degree programs with students taking only the nursing specific courses. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, students who pursue this program learn what they need to pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure exam (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse.
The ABSN only takes one year to complete so students should be prepared for the intensity and fast pace of the program. This program recognizes it is critical for students to not only learn and comprehend the knowledge of the didactic portion of the program, but that clinical competence is vital for the graduate.
With a BSN, students are also prepared for graduate study in nursing. The emphasis of the program is on use of knowledge and skills to plan and implement nursing care. Critical thinking and decision-making skills are emphasized. The BSN program has outstanding faculty that provide leadership in the area's health care delivery system and professional organizations.
