String Day
UTC String Day 2023
UTC String Day is an opportunity for high school string students to collaborate in a symphony orchestra setting. Students will participate in rehearsals alongside the UTC Symphony Orchestra, work with UTC String Faculty in sectionals, and give a casual performance to demonstrate the work done through the day. This year’s featured work will be selected movements from Bizet’s Carmen Suites 1 and 2.
UTC String Day will occur on Saturday, September 30 from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM in our Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center. Directors/private teachers are not required to attend but are most welcome, and students attending without a director must be accompanied by a parent/adult chaperone. Directors/chaperones are welcome to attend full-group rehearsals in the hall—high school students will rehearse at 10:00 and 2:00, and the UTC Symphony will join us at 3:00. We will have a brief performance at 4:30, and directors/family/friends are welcome. We will eat lunch together in the Food Court in the University Center (students pay), and casual clothes are appropriate for the day. There is no fee for this event. Music is available at this link:
Deadline for registration is Friday, September 15. We hope you can be part of this exciting experience!
