Music Ensembles
At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga we have instrumental and vocal ensembles that are available for both majors and non-major students.

Auditions for the fall semester will be held on Sunday, August 20. For the excerpts for Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion, go to the Wind Ensemble page and click on the relevant link.
Symphony Orchestra
UTC Symphony Orchestra auditions for Fall 2023 will be held on Sunday, August 20 and are for students from all majors who are registered or who plan to register for orchestra. If you haven’t registered yet, please contact Professor Sandy Morris at [email protected] for more information. Percussionists are exempt from the audition.
Auditions will held in FAC 214, 2nd floor of the Fine Arts Building. Please plan to warm up in FAC 212 and report to 214 during the time block for your instrument. Audition schedule: 2:00-2:30 woodwinds, 2:30-3:00 brass, and 3:00-4:00 strings.
Results will be emailed to students after the auditions, and music will be available online or at the 1st rehearsal, August 22, 7-9 PM in FAC 104. Please listen to the audition pieces so you will be familiar with the excerpts as you learn them. Tempi are performance tempi—if you need to play excerpts slower to play them musically and accurately, please do!
For UTC Symphony Orchestra members, excerpt links for all instruments are found below. Percussionists contact Professor Morris, [email protected].

Singing Mocs Auditions
The UTC Choral Department is holding auditions for Singing Mocs for Fall 2022! This highly select ensemble is devoted to choral singing in contemporary commercial styles. We have a few spots available, and we are seeking interested students from across campus. Any major is welcome!
Singing Mocs meets Tuesday/Thursday from 4:30-5:45 p.m. so interested students MUST have that time available in their schedule. Singing Mocs can be taken for 1 or 0 credits.
Auditions will be held Monday, August 21. If interested in auditioning, you can sign up for a 15-minute time slot and learn more about what to prepare for the audition HERE.
Contact Dr. Alison Allerton at [email protected] to ask additional questions or if none of the available audition times will work for you.
