Music (B.A.)

Composition (B.M.)
Designed for students who want to write and create original music.
Instrumental Music Education (B.M.)
Designed for students who want to teach instrumental or general music in schools.

Instrumental Performance (B.M.)
Designed for instrumentalists interested in careers in classical music performance.
Music Therapy (B.M.)
Designed for students who want to use music as a therapeutic tool in:

Step 1 – Apply to UTC
Students must first apply for admission to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The UTC Admissions Office can help answer questions about:

Step 2 – Schedule Your Audition
All prospective music majors must complete an audition for the UTC Department of Music.
Audition dates for the 2026-2027 calendar are TBD!
Step 3 – Prepare for Your Audition
Students should review the audition requirements and prepare all required materials before their audition date.
The audition helps determine:
- Readiness for college-level music study
- Placement in applied lessons
- Scholarship eligibility
