UTC Tri-States Honor Band

Honor Band - 2026

The UTC Tri-State Honor Band Festival will take place at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from December 3–5, 2026. This festival celebrates outstanding high school musicians from across the region. Participants will rehearse and perform under the direction of guest conductors and UTC faculty.

The weekend includes:

• Clinics led by UTC Department of Music faculty.
• Performances by the UTC Wind Ensemble.
• The PRISM Concert, featuring UTC wind and percussion ensembles and the Marching Mocs

In addition, the festival will feature performances by four selected high school ensembles, one independent honor concert band, and two UTC Honor Bands.

The Honor Bands

For the 2026 festival, students will be placed into two ensembles:

• Festival Wind Ensemble (Gold): A select group made up of the highest-scoring auditions
• Festival Clinic Band (Blue): All other accepted participants, placed by chair ranking

Guest clinicians for the festival will be announced soon.
 

Selection of Participants:

Students are selected through a competitive audition process. Each student must submit:

• A pre-recorded video audition
• A director evaluation form, completed by the school band director

All auditions are reviewed by UTC Department of Music faculty.

Each director who submits nominations is guaranteed that at least one student from their school will be selected.

Accepted students will be notified by November (date TBD).

Participation Fee

A $75 participation fee is required for all accepted students. This fee includes:

• Access to all rehearsals, clinics, and concerts
• A festival t-shirt

Payment instructions will be sent after acceptance.
All fees must be paid by (date TBD).

Attendance Policy

Full participation is required.

All students must attend:

• Every rehearsal
• All concerts
• All festival events

Students may not arrive late or leave early.

Festival Music

Students will receive access to festival music after accepting their invitation.

Participants are expected to prepare their music in advance before arriving to campus.
