The vast majority of face-to-face courses during the fall semester will be offered on a rotational format. This also applies to laboratory courses. Students will be assigned to specific rotations and expected to attend class on assigned dates as communicated by the instructor closer to the start of the semester.
“Internet 80% > Web”: the course is at least 80% web based, indicating students will not be required to come to campus for that course. The instruction for courses with this label will be offered online in one of two ways: synchronous or asynchronous.
- Synchronous: If a course is listed as “Internet 80% > Web” and still has a meeting day or time, that indicates students will be expected to participate in the course online, synchronously (at the determined day/time as listed on the schedule). Think of them like regularly scheduled classes, but held in an online environment.
- Asynchronous: If a course is listed as “Internet 80% > Web” and does NOT have a meeting day or time, that indicates student participation will be online, asynchronously. These courses do not have set times. Rather, regular updates are posted online and each student should engage with the content to meet the assignment and exam deadlines set by the individual instructor.
“Blended/Hybrid (30-79% Web)”: the course is a combination of web based and face to face (f2f) interaction. For Fall 2020, the f2f component is likely to look very different than prior semesters. Instructors will communicate with students what the expectations for the f2f interaction will be and when students will be expected to come to campus. Students should plan for courses listed as Blended/Hybrid requiring on campus participation at some point and generally these courses are a hybrid approach that will also include some online course content. Additional information respective to each class will be communicated closer to the start of the semester, directly from the instructor.
