MyMocsPASS Student Instructions and FAQ
Students may grant authorization to individuals, most often to parents or guardians, to access certain areas of a student’s record such as Financial Aid or Grades. The student must initiate the process of adding a MyMocsPASS user in MyMocsNet and granting them authorization. Please follow the steps below to complete the process.
- Set up your MyMocsPASS user

1. Log into MyMocsNet with your UTC ID and password.
2. Under Academic Tools: Select MyMocsPASS
3. Select Add New
4. Create a user profile
a) Complete the Profile Information- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address (this will serve as the MyMocsPASS username). Each user must have their own email address.
- Relationship – Select Parent, Legal Guardian, or Other
- Start Date – This defaults to today’s date
- Stop Date – This defaults to 1 year in the future
b) Complete Additional Information
- Description – Please enter a note describing the MyMocsPASS user (Mom, Dad, etc)
- Passphrase – Enter a word or phrase the MyMocsPASS user must know in order for UTC to confirm their identify and discuss FERPA protected topics over the phone or in person.
c) Authorize access to view records
- Authorizations – Select the student record area the user will have access to. If you are setting up multiple users, you can also use the ‘Copy Authorizations’ function to copy the same authorization from one user to another.
- Select ‘Submit’
After you have selected ‘Submit’, your proxy will receive 3 emails:
- An email with a one time use invitation link to access the Login Page. This link will remain active for 2 days.
- An email with their initial password
- An email with the permanent link to MyMocsPASS. This can only be used once they have set up their account.
6. Send an Email with their Passphrase
Once you select ‘Submit’, you will be redirected to the Proxy Management homepage.
a) Select the pencil icon under the user.
b) Then scroll down and select E-mail Passphrase to email the passphrase you set up. - Modify MyMocsPASS access

- Under ‘Authorizations’ select/deselect what your user is authorized to see
- Note: At least 2 authorization must be selected.

Student FAQ
- What is MyMocsPASS?

MyMocsPASS is the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Parent Access to Student Systems. This allows UTC students to grant access to family members to view certain student information online or to speak with specific departments regarding the student. The person being granted access to the student’s information is referred to as the “proxy”. The required steps to establish user access and consent are necessary to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Can any UTC Student set up access to MyMocsPASS?

Yes, any student who has access to MyMocsNet can set up access.
- My parent has forgotten their Password. Can I reset it for them?

Yes, to reset your Parent’s select the pencil icon by their name. Select the Reset Password link.
This will generate 2 emails:
An email with a one time use invitation link to access the MyMocsPASS. This link will remain active for 2 days.
An email with their initial password
If your parent has a status of Inactive under their email address, this means they have not yet established their permanent password. Please remind them to set up their account with the invitation link and initial password that was emailed to them. Once they have established their account, the Inactive status will change to Active. This also applies when a password reset request has been submitted.
- How do I end my parent’s access?

- If I modify my parent’s access, will they be notified?

No, your parent will not be notified of any changes to their access.
- Can I use the same email address for both my parents?

No. However, if parents share an email address and you wish to grant access to both using that address, you may do so. If this is how you wish to set it up, we ask that when completing the first name field, you enter both first names (example: Mary and David). In the relationship description field, enter “parents” or “mom and dad” so that it is clear to any administrator reviewing the permissions that this email address is for multiple persons
