Thank you for your interest in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga!  UTC is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is an excellent place for you to pursue your undergraduate or graduate studies in the U.S.

International Undergraduate Students

Please click here for a list of UTC undergraduate majors and minors.

  1. Visit utc.edu/apply.
  2. Choose "International."
  3. Choose "International Undergraduate."
  4. Choose the student type that represents you (International First Time Freshman, International Transfer, International Readmit, or International Transient).
  5. Choose the appropriate semester.
  6. Complete the online application.

You will be asked to create an account to apply.

You must also pay a nonrefundable fee of $30.

NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Language Proficiency: TOEFL 61/IELTS 5.5

    Scores must be no more than two years old. Applicants who have received a degree from a U.S. institution within the past two years are exempt from the language proficiency requirement.

  • Financial DocumentsDocumentation of financial resources sufficient for nine months of study must be reeived prior to issuance of an I-20. More information about the cost of attendance and proof of funding may be found here
  • Copy of valid passport
  • Academic Credentials  
  1. Original or attested copy of high school diploma
  2. Complete and official transcript (statement of marks) for each high school and/or college attended

IMPORTANT:

  1. Documents must be attested and sealed by the proper official within the issuing institution. UTC will not accept documents attested by instructors or external notary publics. 
  2. Documents should be submitted directly by the issuing institution.
  3. All documents become the property of the University and are not returnable nor forwardable to other institutions.

  • ACT or SAT: All international undergraduate applicants are strongly encouraged to submit SAT scores. Students who do not submit test scores with the application will be required to take the on-campus ACT Residual exam before or during the first semester of attendance. 

TRANSFER STUDENTS

(students currently studying in the U.S.)

  • Copy of current I-20
  • Copy of current I-94
  • SEVIS I-20 transfer form
  • Language Proficiency: TOEFL 61/IELTS 5.5

  • Financial Documents: Documentation of financial resources sufficient for nine months of study must be received prior to issuance of an I-20. More information about the cost of attendance and proof of funding may be found here
  •  Copy of valid passport
  • Transcripts: If you have attended a U.S. high school and/or college, transcripts should be submitted directly by the institution. Transcripts may be submitted in one of three ways:
    • Electronically through an electronic transcript delivery service
    • By email to international undergraduate student advisor Eunice Davis
    • By mail in a sealed envelope to:

UTC uses an express mail service which may allow you to receive your acceptance packet and I-20 through DHL or FedEx within three to five days. 

Requesting immigration documents through express mail is at the STUDENT'S expense. Students may pay with a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card. To request express mailing of your documents, visit this website (works best with an Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox browser).  

Use the website provided above — do not log in through the DHL or FedEx websites.  If you choose the express mail option, you will communicate directly with the eShipGlobal service, which will notify UTC of your request.

You will need to create a username and password to use the account.  To request shipment, you will need your mailing address, email address, phone number, and credit card information.

Yes. You will be charged $30.

How can I pay my application fee?

Payment should be made in U.S. dollars by major credit card, cashier’s check, money order, or personal check. If payment is made by personal check, the check must be drawn on U.S. currency.

How much does it cost to come to UTC?

How long will it take to receive my I-20?

After all of your materials are submitted and in order, we ask that you allow 48 business hours for our staff to process the documentation.

Please note that mailing can take up to five days. The student is responsible for express mail shipping (see the "Express Mail" section above for more details).
