All Mathematics majors and graduate students are assigned an advisor to assist students in developing academic plans that are relevant to their degree programs and life goals. These advisors act as a resource for students as they navigate their academic career here at UTC. Due to the importance of correct course selection and sequencing, all students must meet with an academic advisor prior to course registration each semester.
Undergraduate Mathematics Majors: All declared a Mathematics majors will be assigned an advisor in The Hub Student Success Center in the College of Arts and Sciences to assist them in navigating the required coursework for a math degree.
Mathematics Masters and Certificate Students: All Mathematics students working on their Masters degree or a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate will be advised by Dr. Lakmali Weerasena, Graduate Coordinator.
Mathematics Ph.D. Students: All students in the Ph.D. in Computational Science - Computational and Applied Mathematics degree program are advised by their Ph.D. advisor.

Math Advising Event
Each semester, the Department of Mathematics hosts Math Advising Night. This is a time when all Mathematics Majors and Graduate students can:
- Meet with math faculty and advisors
- Learn more about classes offered the following semester
- Discuss possible research projects or thesis with faculty
- Meet with other math students and friends.
