The UTC Math Plaza offers FREE walk-in math help for students taking the following MATH courses:

How to get the most from your Plaza visits
- Try some problems first. Make sure you have read your class notes and attempted some homework problems before coming to the Plaza for help.
- Come prepared. Make sure you bring all course materials to the Plaza when you come for help. This includes all class notes AND your textbook.
- Come with specific questions or topics in mind. You will have better results if you can say, “I need help with this problem. Here is what I did, but I keep getting the incorrect answer,” or “Here are my notes from class, I don’t understand how my professor got from this step to that step.”
- Come in more than 48 hours before your next test. The Math Plaza gets busy the couple days before an exam is given. You may have a longer wait if you come in at the last second for help.
- Come in on a regular basis. Come in and ask questions regularly over material that you are confused on in class or on the homework. Stay caught up in class!
- Attend class regularly. A tutor cannot teach you everything your professor has covered in the previous 4 weeks of class in a few minutes. The Plaza serves as an adjunct to math courses and is not a replacement for the material presented by your instructor.
What do I do when I go in?
Scan the QR Code at your seat to get checked in. Get all of your course materials out.
Press the button on the app to ping a tutor when you have a question.
Be courteous to those around you.
Turn cell phones to silent and hold phone conversations outside the Math Plaza.
Be patient when the Math Plaza is busy. A tutor will be with you as quickly as possible.
Do your own work. Tutors are here to help you, not to do your homework for you.
Remember to check out when you are finished!
