Other Special Events
The UTC Department of Mathematics hosts a number of special events each year for students, faculty and staff and the general public.
Each spring, to coincide with National Math Awareness Month, the department hosts two separate events. The first, our Department Honor's Day Reception and Awards Ceremony, honors the scholastic achievement of our students during the academic year and inducts new members into the UTC chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the mathematics honor society. The department also hosts a poster contest for area middle and high school students which enables them to explore the area of mathematics.
Other special events occur through the year as well. Pi Mu Epsilon and the Math Club sponsor several events throughout the year including the annual Sudoku Competition. Periodically, conferences and guest speakers are also scheduled. Be sure to check the list of upcoming events to see what new and interesting things are going on in the math department.
