Request to Walk
Some students may be unable to participate in the commencement ceremony at the end of their final semester of enrollment. Students who are attending commencement the same semester they are graduating do not submit a request to walk.
The request to walk form is available in the following time periods:
- Spring semester - March 21 through April 21
- Summer semester - July 15 through October 31
- Fall semester - November 1 through November 30
Undergraduate student eligibility requirements to request to walk early
- Submit an Application for Graduation through MyMocsNet for the semester when all degree requirements will be complete (e.g. Apply for Summer graduation and request to walk for May)
- 20 or fewer credit hours are incomplete at the time of Commencement ceremony.
- Meet the minimum GPA requirements for graduation including Institutional (UTC), Major, and Overall GPA.
- Please note: All degree requirements must be complete before a diploma is issued.

Graduate student eligibility requirements to request to walk early
- Submit an Application for Graduation through MyMocsNet for the semester when all degree requirements will be complete (e.g. Apply for Summer graduation and request to walk for May)
- Enrollment in a non-thesis or non-dissertation program OR
- Thesis or dissertation defended and submitted to UTC scholar
- No more than 6 hours remain for degree completion
- Register for remaining credit hours for degree completion
- Meet the minimum GPA required for the degree
- Please note: All degree requirements must be complete before a diploma is issued.
