Metabolite Fragmentation Visualization:
Spencer Arnold has published a conference paper for this project. The journal version of this study is under review. This project is sponsored by an NSF grant (2053286).
This study addresses delivery system using drones, which includes the strategic planning of the system and operational planning for a given region. The approach considers minimum covering approach to model the optimization model and a mixed integer nonlinear programming is developed. Approximation algorithm will be developed to improve the computational time.
Examining Vicarious Racial Trauma in College Students:
The purposes of this project are 1) Examine the nature and effect of vicarious racial trauma in Black college-aged adults, 2) Understand the methods these individuals use to cope with vicarious racially traumatic experiences and, 3) To contribute to a body of literature concerning second-hand racial trauma and psychological well-being. Literature on this topic primarily studies vicarious trauma in caregiver-child relationships but there are limited findings on vicarious racism in Black students in higher education. While there is research that has measured how vicarious racism is experienced (i.e., through oral transmission from family or friends) there is limited understanding of how different mediums of vicarious racism can moderate the impact on psychological well-being.
The Relationship Between Voter Perceptions of Frequency of Police Use of Excessive Force and Support for the Death Penalty
Amelia completed this project for her Honor's Thesis. She shared it as a poster presentation at the UTC 2022 Spring Research Dialogues. She also shared her findings in a panel presentation at the 2022 Southern Criminal Justice Association Annual Meeting in Asheville, NC. She successfully defended her thesis in October 2022. The paper has been turned into a manuscript and is currently under review by a national undergraduate journal.
