Spring Research and Arts Conference Class Visit Program
UTC faculty are invited to register their students to participate in the UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference Class Visit program! Established in 2023, the program aims to foster excitement about research, and help students explore career paths. Students who participate in the program interview presenters and complete an class visit engagement form. More than 200 students participate in the program each year. Faculty may register one or more of their classes. The program is open to students in any UTC undergraduate or graduate course. Students who participate in the program receive a conference t-shirt. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Faculty who plan to participate in the program must submit the registration form by Jan. 26, 2025.
Which Classes Should Participate?
The program is open to students in any UTC undergraduate or graduate course. Students in general education courses, and courses targeting first- and second-year undergraduates, are strongly encouraged to participate. Faculty are encouraged to offer class credit or create other incentives (class assignment or project) for participation.
THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER YOUR CLASS FOR A VISIT IS JANUARY 26, 2025
How it Works
- Register your class via the online form. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with details about your visit, and an electronic copy of the engagement form to distribute to your students. The engagement form includes detailed instructions for conducting presenter interviews.
- Students check in at the conference and will be marked as “present” on the attendance sheet (to track participation). Participants receive a t-shirt and pen for completing the engagement form (provided by faculty). Students will be instructed to submit the completed form to their professors for extra credit or other incentives that professors have discussed with their students.
- During the conference, students engage with presenters and complete the engagement form (provided by faculty).
- Conference coordinators share attendance lists with faculty (after the conference).
Note: Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Faculty who plan to participate in the program should complete the registration form by Jan. 26, 2025.
