Governor's School Activities
CLASS EXPERIENCE
Students engage in teaching as a profession by studying the foundations of education in America. Through the exploration of major theorists and ideas, learning styles, and modeling/experimentation with various instructional techniques, students achieve a realistic understanding of the profession. Students learn and practice the implementation of best practices to plan and create engaging, standards-aligned lessons.
WARENESS OF EQUITABLE SUPPORTS FOR TODAY’S LEARNERS
Students explore the components of the teaching profession outside the classroom. Through community partnerships, students gain a better understanding of the diverse backgrounds in today’s classrooms and how to meet the educational and fundamental needs of the 21st century learners they will serve.
BUILDING LIFE-LONG CONNECTIONS & EXPLORING THE UNIVERSITY
Students build relationships with other prospective teachers from across the state of Tennessee. Students also explore support and resources offered by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as they participate in student-centered activities on campus throughout their time at governor’s school.
IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES – EXPLORING THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA!
Students explore the beauty of Chattanooga as they participate in a wide variety of off-campus, Chattanooga-based excursions.
