Students engage in teaching as a profession by studying the foundations of education in America. Through the exploration of major theorists and ideas, learning styles, and modeling/experimentation with various instructional techniques, students achieve a realistic understanding of the profession. Students learn and practice the implementation of best practices to plan and create engaging, standards-aligned lessons.

Students build relationships with other prospective teachers from across the state of Tennessee. Students also explore support and resources offered by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as they participate in student-centered activities on campus throughout their time at governor’s school.
