Scholarships
All SOE Scholarships require admission to TEP (Checkpoint 2). Please read each description carefully before completing an application. All applications are active by the end of February and will remain active until March 27. Scholarships will be awarded May through August, and recipients will receive scholarship funds for the following Fall semester only.
- Clayton Arnold Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to students that have been accepted into the Teacher Education Program. Consideration for the recipients should include: being from a Southern state, demonstrating financial need, desire, aptitude for teaching, and academic proficiency.
- Bernie W. Benson Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to students majoring in science education. In addition consideration for the recipients should include: student demonstrating successful academic performance and/or financial need.
- Seryl Berger Memorial Scholarship
-
This scholarship should be awarded on a one time basis to students majoring in special education. The students should show an exceptional aptitude for teaching children with special needs. This scholarship is based solely on merit and ability not on financial needs. The student receiving the award must agree to morally obligate himself to contribute to the Seryl M. Berger Scholarship Fund within five (5) years of his her graduation. This moral obligation, although to be legally non-binding, is to be in writing. The student recipient is to be advised that the purpose of his moral obligation is to enable the Seryl M. Berger Scholarship Fund to make similar gifts to worthy students in the future.

This scholarship should be awarded to dedicated students who will teach in special education and who plan to pursue graduate work in the field.
- Miller/Schwartz Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to students in the special education program. The students should demonstrate successful academic performance and/or financial need.
- Carol Smith Sanders Award

This scholarship should be awarded to graduate students in the special education Masterâs program. The students should demonstrate successful academic performance and/or financial need.
- Kazanowski Award

This scholarship should be awarded to students in the School of Education with preference given to juniors and seniors. The students should have demonstrated successful academic performance.
- Lottie Elizabeth Hemmings Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Secondary Education: English. Other criteria include academic performance and financial need. Preference will be given to previous award winners and single parents.
- Dr. Roy Stinnett Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Roy Stinnett Memorial Scholarship is open to any student accepted for admission or enrolled at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga majoring in Education. Additional consideration includes: academic performance and/or financial need.
- Dr. Thomas E. Bibler Scholarship

The Dr. Thomas E. Bibler Scholarship is open to any student accepted for admission or currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Preference to students majoring in Education with a concentration in social science education or history education. - Ralph F. Quarles Scholarship

The Ralph F. Quarles Scholarship is open to any student who has been accepted for admission or is currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Additional Considerations:
Applicant must be a resident of Georgia
Must be pursuing a degree in the School of Education full time - Friends of Dr. Charles "Rocky" Renneisen Scholarship

The Friends of Dr. Charles "Rocky" Renneisen Scholarship is open to any student admitted to or currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Additional Preferences:
Applicants must be pursuing a graduate degree in Education
Applicants must hold current good status and good standing
Applicants must demonstrate successful academic performance
Financial Need may be considered - Losh, Tom and Teresa Scholarship

Applicants must be currently enrolled or admitted to attend UTC in a School of Education program. Preference is given to those who are participants in a UTC Intercollegiate Athletics Program, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Education, must be in good standing, and demonstrate successful academic performance. Financial need may be considered and students holding scholarship after one year shall have preference in subsequent years.

A scholarship for Juniors and Seniors, offered by the Tennessee Chi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.
- John Ebb and Marry Ann Stewart Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to undergraduate students in year three or four, pursuing a degree in PreK-3 Education. It is preferred that applicants have the intention to teach in Tennessee following graduation. Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate successful academic performance
- David and Mary Copeland Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to current UTC students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in education. Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate successful academic performance
- H. Wade Cowan Literacy Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to current UTC students pursuing an undergraduate degree in PreK-3 Elementary Education with an emphasis in literacy. Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate successful academic performance. Non-traditional students (25 years or older) preferred.
- Perry and Cynthia Storey Scholarship

This scholarship should be awarded to students pursuing a graduate degree within the School of Education or School Psychology. Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate successful academic performance.
- CHCRTA Scholarship for Aspiring Educators

Rising senior at a regionally accredited, non-proprietary, four year college or university in TN or Post Baccalaureate student with a major/minor in education. Preference will be given to a graduate of a public high school in Hamilton County. (Min. GPA: 3.0)
- Patricia Hale Whitaker Memorial Scholarship

Rising senior or Post Baccalaureate student attending a regionally accredited, non-proprietary, four year public college or university in TN. Preference will be given to a graduate of a public high school in Hamilton County. (Min. GPA: 3.5)
- James Wendell âSkipperâ Fairbanks Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to enrolled or admitted to UTC, must be
registered in Residency II (student teaching) or pursuing a masterâs degree in education, academically successful
performance - UTC Little Miss Mag School of Education Endowed Scholarship

The Scholarship shall also be subject to the following criteria:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled at or admitted to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
- Applicants must demonstrate successful academic performance.
- Applicants must currently be enrolled full-time in the Early Childhood Education program or Child & Family Studies program in the School of Education
- Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree.
- Applicants must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Applicants must do clinical experience or practicum at Little Miss Mag Early Learning Center in Chattanooga
