Educational Leadership Programs
The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership/Licensure concentration, the Ed.S. and the Certificate in Educational Leadership
The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership/Licensure concentration, the Ed.S. and the Certificate in Educational Leadership are designed for teachers who aspire to become school principals, assistant principals, supervisors, or central office personnel. Courses are aligned directly with the Tennessee Learning Centered Leadership System standards for Tennessee Instructional Leadership. Upon completion of the program and a passing score on the State exam for instructional leader licensure, each leads to a TN endorsement as a “instructional leader/supervisor”.
M.Ed. in Educational Leadership/Non-Licensure
This concentration is designed for experienced teachers who want to remain in the classroom and exercise leadership through school-wide collaboration, mentoring new teachers, departmental or grade-level leadership, leading professional development, and the improvement of curriculum and instructional strategies. This degree does not lead to an additional license endorsement.
Certificate in Instructional Coaching
UTC is now offering a 12-credit certificate in Instructional Coaching. This certificate is designed for educators who either already have a masters degree and want to complete a concentration in instructional coaching, or for students who don’t have a masters degree but who want to begin an advanced program in education.
Certificate in School Athletic Program Leadership
This program is perfect for current and aspiring athletic directors, coaches and school administrators involved in interscholastic sports. Developed in conjunction with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the program focuses on ethical best practices for managing all aspects of school athletics, and for leading coaches, athletes, parents and fans in developing outstanding athletic programs.
