Tuition Assistance
Tuition Assistance at UTC
Many employers offer tuition assistance or tuition reimbursement as part of their benefits package. If you’re considering an undergraduate or graduate degree at UTC, those benefits may help reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
This page explains how employer tuition assistance typically works at UTC and where to go if you have questions.
What is tuition assistance?
Tuition assistance is an employer-provided benefit that helps pay for college coursework.
• Some employers pay tuition upfront
• Others reimburse employees after courses are completed
• Coverage amounts, eligibility requirements, and timelines vary by employer
At UTC, employer tuition assistance can often be combined with other financial aid options, depending on your situation.
Using employer tuition assistance at UTC
UTC supports students using employer education benefits across many industries and organizations.
• Benefits may apply to undergraduate and graduate programs
• Employer contributions follow your company’s policy
• Documentation depends on your employer’s policy and whether they pay UTC directly or reimburse you
• You may be asked for proof of enrollment, a tuition statement, or grades
Because employer plans differ, processes and timelines may vary.
If your employer covers only part of the cost
If your employer’s benefit does not cover your full tuition and fees, additional options may be available.
Many students combine employer assistance with:
• Scholarships
• Federal or state financial aid
• A payment plan for any remaining balance
Exploring these options early can help you plan for each semester.
Timing matters
To help prevent delays with employer sponsorship or third-party billing:
• Register for classes first
• Submit employer authorization after registration is complete
Submitting documentation before registration may delay billing setup.
What you’re responsible for
Even with employer tuition assistance:
• You are responsible for any balance not covered
• UTC payment deadlines still apply
Late or incomplete employer payments may affect your account.
Support for working professionals and returning students
UTC serves students balancing careers, family responsibilities, and coursework. In addition to employer tuition assistance, students have access to resources designed to support busy schedules and long-term goals.
Available resources include:
• Academic advising and success support
• Tutoring and learning assistance
• Writing and research support
• Student support services
Your Experience May Count
If you’ve completed prior college coursework, served in the military, or gained relevant professional experience, some of that learning may be eligible for credit toward your UTC degree. We call that “Prior Learning Credit.”
Credit evaluation follows UTC academic policies and program requirements.
If you’re unsure what may transfer, UTC can review your transcripts and discuss your options. Learn more about prior learning credit.
