Supplemental Instruction Program Overview
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free academic support program that uses peer-assisted instruction to enrich the learning experience in historically difficult courses.
SI is an internationally recognized, evidence-backed model that aims to help students succeed through weekly peer-led SI sessions. SI Sessions are interactive, engaging, and fun, creating a comfortable environment to explore and practice course material in a group study atmosphere. Research indicates that students who attend SI Sessions regularly earn one-half to a whole grade letter higher than students who do not attend at all.
SI Sessions occur outside of class and are voluntary for students to attend - no RSVP required. When an SI Leader is assigned to a class, all students enrolled are welcome to attend their SI Sessions!

- Active learning principles and practices
- Group-oriented study methods
- Clear communication
- Active listening and responding
- Time and classroom management
- Effective group and individual study skills
- Providing UTC resources
