Probationary Performance Review
The probationary period is an opportunity for both UTC and new employees to assess suitability of positions. New regular staff employees, including those converting from temporary or student to regular positions, serve a six-month probationary period.
It is not necessary for the supervisor to complete an annual performance review during the same year a probationary review is completed. However, supervisors are encouraged to meet with retained staff members during the annual review period to familiarize them with the annual performance review process. This is also another opportunity for the supervisor to provide feedback, clarify expectations, celebrate successes, and establish goals and objectives with the employee for the next review period.
When performance issues exist with a probationary employee, the supervisor can contact Human Resources for guidance on how to address performance issues. Please reach out at least one month prior to the end of the probationary period to allow time to determine appropriate next steps.
