Funding Opportunities
High-Impact Practices (HIP) Grants and Classroom Mini-Grants
The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning sponsors three grant programs to encourage innovative teaching at UTC. The High-Impact Practices Grant can be used for projects up to $2,000. The Classroom Mini-Grant offers a streamlined way to bring targeted elements into the classroom up to $300. HIP Matching Funds for Past HIP Grant Recipients (up to $500) are now available for those who have previously received WCTL HIP Grant funds for substantial “sustainable” acquisitions (i.e., materials and equipment that can be reused in future semesters).
Faculty Development Grants
The faculty grants program provides funding to support activities of full-time faculty. There are three rounds each year, with deadlines on August 15 for fall semester activities, November 15 for spring semester activities, and April 1 for summer activities.
This faculty grants program is for full-time faculty. Proposals are funded up to $1,500 for professional development activities and conference presentations, and up to $2,500 for research and creative activities. Proposals requiring international travel may be awarded up to $500 in additional funding.
Additional Funding Opportunities
Additional development opportunities are available through the Faculty Senate. These additional opportunities include faculty grants, sabbatical leave, and study leave
