The mission of the Grayson H. Walker Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) is to support UTC's strategic plan and academic initiatives to facilitate excellence in university instruction by providing assistance, information, learning sessions, and consultations in the areas of teaching, learning and technology integration.
We offer faculty training and support for best practices in teaching and learning. Seminars, workshops, webinars, book clubs and one-on-one consultations are offered each semester on pedagogy and experiential learning. Our annual Instructional Excellence Conference is an example of our ongoing commitment to faculty development.
We provide instructor support for UTC Learn and other types of technology such as video development and captioning.
We offer orientations for new faculty and adjunct faculty. We also provide new student orientation sessions on experiential learning.
Teaching and Assessment:
We provide assistance on course design based on Quality Matters standards. We also offer classroom observations and small-group instructional diagnosis.
