Getting Started in UR Workshop Series
UTC media
Attending a workshop is the first step in the UR journey.
Workshop attendees receive complimentary URaCE swag and a certificate of completion.
Students interested in getting involved in UR should attend workshops one and two first!
- Getting Started in Undergraduate Research - This introductory workshop provides an overview of undergraduate research at UTC. Attendees learn about the benefits of UR engagement, and how to get started.
- Navigating an Undergraduate Research Position: Finding a Mentor and Preparing for Success - This hands-on workshop guides students through the process of identifying UR positions and connecting with prospective mentors.
- How to Identify and Apply for Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Programs - Learn how to locate, prepare for, and apply to summer REU programs across the country. Most REU programs are PAID experiences.
- Demystifying the Graduate School Application Process - Tips will be shared about locating graduate programs, funding, and preparing a competitive application.
- Exploring UTC Summer Research Study Abroad Programs - Students will learn about exciting summer research study abroad programs in Vietnam, Italy, the UK, and many others. Application instructions, deadlines, and available funding for these programs will also be shared. This session is hosted by the UTC Study Abroad and Office for URaCE directors.
- Introduction to Machine Learning and Python for Undergraduate Researchers - This hands-on workshop will teach you how to use machine learning and incorporate it into Python scripts. Participants will create a Python script that trains their computer during gameplay to eventually outperform the user. This is a great opportunity for first and second-year students who are seeking a research position but do not have experience with coding languages.
Students who attend an Office for URaCE workshop are entered to win a Chromebook. Details will be provided at the workshop!
