Schedule a Visit
Special Collections offers support for researchers who wish to access physical holdings in-person or virtually.
Visits are most useful for researchers who have already identified specific materials to review. Before you schedule a visit, review our research guide and search descriptions of physical holdings and digital assets discoverable through the following online resources:
Due to the complex nature of large archival collections, researchers should search Finding Aids to identify specific items and files. To search the full text of text-based digital assets, including transcripts for digital holdings, researchers should search Digital Collections, Scholar, and Web Archives.
Special Collections advises researchers with general questions to Ask an Archivist or explore additional services.
In-person visitors may bring their personal devices to take notes and photographs for study purposes. Visitors may use their personal devices with Special Collections’ copy stand for clearer images. Community visitors may sign up for Guest Network Access.
Virtual visitors may access select physical holdings in a Zoom environment for a maximum of forty-five minutes. Special Collections cannot accommodate materials measuring greater than 11 x 17 inches, recorded sound, or moving images in virtual visits. Special Collections personnel will not read or translate materials during virtual visits.
Special Collections responds to requests in the order they are received. It may take up to ten business days to process your request depending on complexity and personnel availability.
Special Collections may deny or modify requests to view specific materials based on preservation concerns, time constraints, or equipment limitations.
