Request Digitization
Special Collections offers digitization services to assist scholars in their research.
Before you request digitization, search Digital Collections and Scholar to find items that have already been digitized to support your research.
Special Collections offers up to 200 scans or five sound recordings and moving images at no charge:
- Print materials measuring up to 12 x 17 inches
- Transparent materials measuring up to 8 x 10 inches
Special Collections delivers the following formats unless otherwise requested:
- 300 dpi searchable PDFs for typewritten documents
- 300 dpi PDFs for handwritten documents
- 600 dpi JPGs for photographic prints
- 1200 dpi JPGs for negatives and transparencies
- MP4s with captions
All transcripts and captions provided in searchable PDFs and MP4s are automatically generated and uncorrected. UTC students with documented disabilities may find additional assistance through the Center for Student Accessibility.
Special Collections may modify or cancel your request based on preservation concerns, time constraints, or equipment limitations.
Special Collections processes digitization requests in the order they are received. It may take up to twenty-eight business days to process your order depending on complexity and personnel availability. Once copies are ready, Special Collections will provide a link from which you will be able to access copies.
