A program for transfer students and currently enrolled UTC students.
Innovations in Honors supports you to become your best self as a part of a community of change creators. The program is designed for transfer students and currently enrolled UTC students who have a minimum of four semesters remaining in their program. The program can fit alongside any major and provides opportunities for hands-on learning experiences, community engagement, and skill building that support students in working toward academic, professional, and personal goals.
In learning experiences such as a two-semester Innovation Lab, students participate in an immersive and interdisciplinary learning laboratory to tackle authentic, real-world problems to benefit the broader shared community. Students apply design thinking in collaboration with peers, instructors, and partners from the city of Chattanooga to generate civic impact through inquiry, imagination, and innovative solutions.
Innovations in Honors Scholarship Policy
Upon acceptance in good standing into the Innovations in Honors program, students will receive a renewable scholarship for the period of 2-3 years depending on completed credit hours at the time of admission. The Associate Dean will review academic performance at the end of each term to determine continued eligibility and inform students regarding concerns about the status of their Innovations Scholarship.
Students who enter the program with 24-60 credits will be eligible for the scholarship to fund up to six semesters of coursework. Students who enter with over 60 credits will be eligible for the scholarship to fund up to four semesters of coursework. However, it is not uncommon for a student to take more than these amounts of semesters, depending on entry credits and degree path, to complete their degree. Your final two semesters of benefits will not be released until you have a thesis proposal approved and register for the appropriate 4995 class.
