The Guerry Center Reading Room is named in honor of the 7th president of the University of Tennessee, Dr. Alexander Guerry, who presided from 1929 until 1938. His focus was on “true learning and sound scholarship, so the University would be an institution of merit and excellence.”
Originally the University Student Center, the Guerry Center underwent an $8 million renovation in 2019 that modernized this historic building while maintaining its signature collegiate gothic style architecture.
