Benefits
All Honors College students in good standing receive the following benefits:
- Priority registration for classes
- Smaller class sizes. All honors seminars are capped at 20 students per section. Honors Humanities and Innovations in Honors are capped at 15 students per section.
- For Brock Scholars a scholarship that is renewable for eight semesters. For Innovations in Honors Students, a scholarship that is renewable for four to six semesters depending on the semester of entry and number of credit hours completed at the time of entry.
- Non-Tennessee residents receive a waiver of out-of-state tuition fees
- A designated honors academic advisor
- Opportunities to attend and make presentations at academic and professional conferences around the country, including the National Collegiate Honors Council conference
- Opportunities to travel for academic credit with other Honors College students and faculty.
- Program-sponsored social events and special programs throughout the year
Maintenance Requirements
To remain in good standing Honors College students must:
- Maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA
- Make at least 24 hours progress towards graduation each academic year
- Make reasonable progress toward completion of program requirements, as determined by an Honors College advisor
- Register for and attend the appropriate honors studies course (1000, 2000, 3000) each year
- Apply and register for two semesters (four hours total) senior honors thesis
- Abide by the rules of conduct for all students set forth in the UTC Student Handbook
- Abide by the rules for Brock Scholars as determined by the Honors College staff and detailed in the Honors College Handbook
