Military Leave
Military Leave ensures that University employees have the opportunity to continue employment with the university while fulfilling their military obligation and to provide appropriate reemployment opportunities. It covers employees who are called to active duty or authorized military training.
Eligibility
Regular employees who meet the following criteria are eligible for military leave:
- A member of any reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces
- A member of the Tennessee National Guard
- A member of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol
- A FEMA reservist
Notification and Request for Military Leave
Employees must provide their supervisor with advance notice of the need for Military Leave. Employees are also required to provide a copy of their military orders to their supervisor and Human Resources.
Pay and Benefits While on Military Leave
Employees who must report for training or active duty may receive up to 160 hours (20 working days) of military leave with pay per calendar year. Depending on the details of the military orders and the duration of service, employees may receive full pay, partial pay, or unpaid leave. Employees are expected to communicate with their supervisor and properly report absences in DASH.
