Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals. There are over 300 chapters on college and university campuses.

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) is a worldwide organization for professionals working in the business. The IMA student organization is a chapter associated with the Chattanooga IMA chapter. The purpose of the UTC chapter is to help students network with local professionals and gain exposure to a variety of accounting experts and professionals.

Our Beta Alpha Psi and IMA chapters host joint meetings about 10-12 times throughout the semester with engaging professionals. In addition, students in both organizations attend regional and national meetings to network and learn more about the accounting profession.

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is the epicenter of entrepreneurship education at UTC and sponsors two annual student pitch competitions. Inspiring students to move beyond classroom theory to actual application, these events provide invaluable lessons in salesmanship and business analysis.

Our program offers one-on-one mentoring from UTC entrepreneurship faculty and community members, with students benefiting from the insight and experience of the area's most successful entrepreneurs. Study Abroad Opportunities:
Many French majors and minors choose to participate in study abroad programs (summer, single semester or full academic year) to gain first-hand experience with the French language and culture.

The Center for Global Education connects students with various academic language experiences in several Francophone countries. Students may opt for a homestay with a French family or to live in a residence hall with other students.

Living Learning Community:
‘Life Out Loud’ is a Living Learning Community housed in the UTC Decosimo Apartments residence hall and sponsored jointly by the UTC Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures and the English department. How the Degree Works:
History courses are designed to produce a marketable set of skills that are introduced, reinforced and mastered at successive course levels throughout the degree. Early in the program, students learn the basics of historical thinking, such as how to synthesize, analyze and interpret historical knowledge, as well as how to communicate this knowledge in speaking and writing for different audiences. As they advance in the program, students practice and master these skills, culminating in small seminar classes and capstone project. The degree is structured so students are exposed to United States, European and world histories at all course levels and different chronological rates.

Prior Learning Assessment, or PLA, is a nationally recognized process that provides an alternative method to assess and award college credit for learning gained outside the traditional classroom including work, military education, seminars, training programs, certification programs and volunteer/community service.

Our PLA portfolio assessment offers an opportunity for students who feel they have gained knowledge equivalent to college-level credit through prior learning to validate their claim. Course Requirements:
A B.A. in Latin American Studies requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, which includes required courses for the major, general education, electives and all University requirements. Students must be in good standing with the University and must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students are strongly encouraged to spend a semester abroad in Latin America, Spain, France or Portugal, which can be supported through financial aid.

Psychological sciences explore human thinking and behavior, sparking a lifelong journey toward personal growth and understanding. UTC’s school psychology program prepares students to excel in various educational settings. The program emphasizes proficiency in commonly accepted best practices and leadership in the field. Graduates are prepared to apply for licensure to practice in educational settings throughout the U.S. and to apply for the Nationally Certified School Psychologist credential through National Association of School Psychologists. The program, which includes the UTC Theatre Company, combines performance and production experiences to transform students into collaborative artists serving the community. Theatre faculty and staff empower student-artists to take risks, make compelling choices and think independently while preparing them for a variety of career paths.
