Social media enables UTC to interact with on- and off-campus audiences about what is important. We can better understand and respond to our communities even as we enhance the sense of community on campus and beyond.
UTC supports the use of social media by University entities, clubs and programs to connect with stakeholders. Social media on behalf of a unit or organization affiliated with UTC should be managed as an official communication channel. Following are suggestions on how to do so effectively, safely and within university guidelines. Click here to apply now to join the hundreds of UTC social media accounts officially recognized. Want to get your event, class, club or research project some social media attention? Reach out to UTC Social Media Coordinator Eric Williams. Williams sets the strategic direction for social media at UTC and manages the main institutional accounts (@utchattanooga). He is available for assistance to all departments in their social media efforts, including guidance on unit accounts or support from the main university accounts.
University-affiliated accounts must comply with UTC graphic and brand standards, and Creative Services Director Stephen Rumbaugh can help in this critical aspect of brand management. Rumbaugh leads development of all UTC branding initiatives, and the Creative services team is a resource for all departments in branding efforts of all kinds, including the use of appropriate identifying marks for UTC-affiliated social media accounts.
