A Week in the Life of a Cadet
Are you curious about what a week in the life of a Cadet looks like? Take a look at a Cadet’s typical college lifestyle with a “military twist”.
Physical Training
All Cadets participate in Physical Training (PT) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week. PT helps Cadets maintain physical fitness and prepares them for the Army Combat Fitness Test – a 6 event qualifying test that gauges a Cadet’s physical aptitude. PT sessions can include circuit workouts, steady-state cardio, and ruck marches – all of which maintain physical fitness while building camaraderie.
Classes
Throughout the week, Cadets attend classes to fulfill their degree requirements as well as their Military Science/ROTC requirements. Cadets are allowed to major in any concentration they wish such as Criminal Justice, Nursing, Engineering, or Early Childhood Education.
Additionally, Cadets meet several times a week for their designated Military Science class taught by an ROTC instructor, covering skills including tactics, leadership, management, and officership.

Lab Training
Every Thursday Cadets from all classes meet for Situational Training Exercises. Cadets take the topics covered in their MILS class to the outdoors and practice military maneuvers to prepare them for Cadet Summer Training (CST) and life as an Army Officer.

Extracurricular Activities
To bring the college experience full circle, our Cadets participate in a variety of extracurriculars and athletics. You may find members of the Mocs Battalion at the Sports Complex participating on athletic teams, lifeguarding at the Aquatics and Recreation Center, or volunteering in the Scenic City. Our Cadets also take the on ROTC experience outside of the classroom by participating in Cadet Companies such as recruiting, color guard, or Crockett’s Ranger Company. Whatever your interests are, UTC has something to offer!
