Army ROTC Scholarships
Whether you're a Chattanooga-bound high school student or already on campus at UTC, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need, and can be combined with UTC scholarships.
Army ROTC scholarships consist of:
- Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
- Full-tuition scholarships
- The option for room and board in place of tuition
- Additional allowances for books and fees
Traditional scholarships:
Army ROTC scholarships are divided into two categories: 4-year or 3-year National Scholarships (for high school seniors) and 4, 3, and 2-year Campus-Based Scholarships (for incoming or current college students). Green 2 Gold:
The Green to Gold Active Duty Option Program is a two-year program that provides eligible, Active Duty enlisted Soldiers an opportunity to complete a baccalaureate degree or a two-year graduate degree and earn a commission as an Army Officer.
SMP:
The Simultaneous Membership Program allows cadets to be members of the National Guard or Reserves while participating in ROTC. Cadets may use their NG or R benefits to help pay for school while also competing for Active Duty as well as the NG or R.
Minuteman
The Minuteman Scholarship is a National Guard Scholarship. Cadets who receive a Minuteman Scholarship are committed to serving in the National Guard as an officer upon graduation. Cadets may choose to serve in any states’ National Guard upon graduating from the ROTC program.

Specialized Scholarships
Army ROTC has specific scholarships for nurses, active duty enlisted soldiers interested in the Green to Gold program, and current UTC students that agree to attend basic camp for one month to replace the first two years of military science instruction they may have missed.
Additionally, students interested in the Simultaneous Membership Program where they train both on campus with our program and as members of the Tennessee National Guard or Army Reserves are eligible for further financial benefits.
For more information on all of the benefits available, contact Mr. Kent Maddox by sending an email to [email protected], or fill out our Cadet for a Day form to come on campus and learn about all that we offer!
