NSF CAREER Program
The National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.
ORSP wants to help faculty pursue this grant by providing the necessary resources and support to submit a CAREER proposal. Below you will find information on important deadlines and benchmarks, workshops, and NSF templates! If you have any questions or need 1:1 support, please reach out to Sam-Stanley@utc.edu or Todd-Doman@utc.edu.
For FY2019, UTC’s Vice Chancellor for Research is supporting a number of CAREER proposal development resources for eligible faculty. Eligible faculty can participate in any or all of the support services listed in the Proposal Timeline linked below. To incentivize best practices for CAREER proposal development, we have crafted a “CAREER Cohort Program” that will include participation in best-practices for research & proposal development. Faculty who complete the required items associated with the CAREER Cohort will receive a payment of $500 upon submission of a proposal that is accepted by NSF for review. Those who complete supplemental items in addition to the required materials may be eligible for added funding.
A full proposal timeline with requirements can be downloaded here.

This is a required activity for those faculty participating in the 2019 CAREER Cohort program. The event will be held on Friday, May 10 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the UC Chattanooga Room A, and light refreshments will be provided. Please register by April 25.
