Chris Stuart teaches UHON 3520 – Topics in Literature: Best Laid Plans – Authors, Intentions, and the American Novel. He also serves as Head of the Department of English, where he teaches courses in nineteenth- and twentieth-century American literature. He has been named Outstanding Teacher by UTC's College of Arts and Sciences, and also by the University of Tennessee National Alumni Association. His scholarship has appeared in such journals as American Literary Realism, Critique, and Literature and Belief. His current research focuses on the works of Henry James and questions of authorial intent.
