Your Role in Emergency Preparedness
Per University of Tennessee system-wide policies, UTC has developed an emergency management program. This program contains procedures to follow during an emergency.
- UTC Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for:

- Developing, documenting, implementing and managing the Emergency Management Program. The program will include disasters, disturbances, hazardous materials incidents and inclement weather.
- Reviewing the plan annually and updating as necessary. Providing a method for testing the plan. The plan will include emergency chain of command, emergency contacts, evacuation routes, locations of first-aid facilities and public relations responsibilities.
- UTC Deans, Directors, and Department Heads are responsible for:

- Supporting the University's emergency preparedness efforts.
- Participating in annual testing when necessary.
- Making recommendations to Safety and Risk Management for improvement to the current plan.
- UTC Employees are responsible for:

- Participating in training programs offered by the university.
- Abiding by health and safety precautions.
- Reporting health and safety problems to Safety and Risk Management.
