Credit Transfer and Grades
Credit Transfer
Course equivalency guides are provided by individual programs and vary from institution to institution and country to country.
It is your responsibility to be aware of global grade equivalencies between a study abroad hosty university and UTC. Research your host university grading scale to determine how grades may convert back to UTC.
It can take two - three months for UTC to receive your study abroad transcript; keep this in mind! It's important to be aware of this, especially if you will be graduating shortly after your return from study abroad.
Business Course Credit / Programs with AACSB Accreditation
Students seeking business course credit need to be aware of several important items before selecting a study abroad program. The Rollins College of Business is AACSB accredited which means that, if students are seeking very specific equivalent UTC credit they may need to study abroad at an AACSB accredited university overseas.
If you are seeking equivalent UTC credit for your study abroad course (ex. you wish to receive MKT 3130 credit for a Principles of Marketing class that you plan on taking abroad) then you will need to look at overseas universities that have AACSB accreditation; this is the only way that the department head for the respective business department will potentially give you equivalent UTC credit. It is ultimately up to the department head to determine if the course is equivalent to a UTC course and what UTC credit they will give.
If, however, you are only interested in taking business courses abroad that will count for business elective credit (ex. you have 3000/4000 level elective credits that you need for your major or minor), then you can study abroad at any university that will offer you courses you might be interested in (note, you need to make sure to get the elective courses signed off with the appropriate business department head and ensure they will earn the appropriate level of business elective credit).
Many of our study abroad program providers are affiliated with universities abroad that have AACSB accreditation. A list of some of those can be found below (please contact the Office of Study Abroad if you are interested in learning about the CIEE's AACSB accredited programs):
