Find ResourcesOnline Programs FAQs
- How does the 100% online program work?
The online program is 100% online, with no on-campus requirements. Online programs are ideal for working professionals. These courses are offered in the fall, spring, and summer terms. The majority of the fall/spring courses are full semester (15-16 weeks), with an occasional offering of part-term courses (8 weeks). Summer classes are often in condensed terms (6 weeks).
- Will prior college classes transfer?
Once you are admitted, the Registrar will complete a full evaluation, and you will receive a checklist from an advisor, which will account for classes transferred in. They will also assist you with registering for classes.
- Can I get credit for my professional work training/experience?
Possibly! UTC offers a Prior Learning Assessment to evaluate a student's professional training and experience. Students take a 3-credit course to develop a portfolio, and the department will evaluate what and how it will be applied. Typically, practitioners receive between 3-9 credits for elective credits, along with the 3 credits for the PLA class. When you meet with an advisor, be sure to tell them to enroll you in the PLA class your first semester.
- How can I get assistance with paying for college?
- UTC's Financial Aid provides a variety of information on costs, grants, scholarships, and loans.
- If you are active duty military or a veteran, there is a variety of financial support. UTC also has a Department of Veteran and Military Affairs to assist students through their college journey.
- If you are currently working in law enforcement, check with a supervisor or HR to see if the department provides any education incentives, such as financial support, shift adjustment, etc.
- If you are a State of Tennessee employee, review eligibility with the TN Employee Fee Waiver Program.
